Kipp + Andrew = Fun!
Kipp and Andrew had such a fun wedding at the Ritz Carlton Laguna last month! I generally don’t use the word fun for weddings, usually it’s amazing or stylish or unbelievable but the best word to describe this wedding was fun. The bride wore rainbow sandals and the food was hot dogs, burgers and pizza. That’s right, they had a hot dog cart inside the Ritz and a grill going out back for burgers! Now I will admit that the fries were a little fancy being covered in garlic truffle oil and all but still….
Kipp’s dad is a developer and built a place called Foothill Ranch in the OC. He brought home a bunch of rebar and Kipp’s mom made the altar out of rebar, wood and flowers. It was pretty amazing! Kipp’s brother who is also Andrew’s best friend married them. How cool is that, to watch your best friend and sister get married at the same moment…
Andrew just graduated with an MBA from Oxford but this, was of course, after undergrad at Harvey Mudd and a Masters in Engineering from USC. His best man read his education resume during the speech and you couldn’t help but feel like the village idiot by comparison. That said, he had a wicked sense of humor and combined with Kipp’s endless energy they make a smashing couple!

Matthew…
We just shot Matthew again and I realized I hadn’t even posted his pics from 6 months ago. It’s amazing how fast he is growing! Arcel and Kevin have moved to Nevada but they came in for Matthew’s last session. He is the cutest kid and while happy for their move, we will miss them…

Last week…

The things you find…
Carrie and I were doing a little house cleaning over the weekend and she came across a journal I had put together while working in New York. When I graduated RISD I moved to Manhattan and started keeping a log of everything I was doing at the time. I worked for a lot of amazing photographers and had a pretty big collection of test polaroids by some pretty famous people. I always recorded who the photographer was as well as the assistants, the subject and the client. Carrie found the journal, which I had long since forgotten about and showed me this little gem from 1996. Despite my obvious lack of judgement about facial hair it’s still pretty cool that I have this…
Note to self: When one of the most famous photographers in the world takes your picture…don’t tape it into a book with gaffers tape…

Limited Edition Prints
Many of our clients have asked whether they could purchase our travel work that they see displayed throughout our studio and on our website. Carrie and I have decided to release some of the prints for a limited production run. We will feature a new piece each month until the end of the year.
The images will be 11×17 and press printed on a 130lb weight matte paper. The paper is made from 100% recycled materials using only wind power to manufacture it. We are only producing 50 of each print and when they are gone…they’re gone!
This month’s image was captured at Biondi-Santi Winery in Montalcino just outside Sienna, Italy. Biondi-Santi is one of the oldest winemakers in the region and the originator of Brunello di Montalcino.
These limited edition prints are all signed and numbered and retail for $500.00 of which 20% will go to Doctors Without Borders and 20% will go to The Conservation Fund.
This is your chance to help out AND get some cool art for your home as well. Please pass the word along…
To order this print please email info@ryanphillips.com and someone will contact you to take your order.

Here is October’s image…In 2 different treatments…This image was taken in Patagonia, Argentina along the coast outside of Bariloche.

November’s image was also taken in Italy. This image, as well as, the first image in this post were both just recently chosen out of thousands of entries to grace the walls of one of the best photographic labs in the country, WHCC.
