Congratulations Janene & Rob!!!

Janene and Rob can only be described as uber-hip. From their L.A loft at the Eastern Columbia to their boutique pet store, this couple oozes style. They had a beautiful reception at Cicada Restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles. Janene  had an amazing bouquet of purple calla lillys with monkey tails. It was wrapped in black satin and feathers. The bride wore Kenneth Pool with a veil made from her mother’s 1953 lace dress. Jewlery from Single Stone. The bridesmaids wore Jim Hjelm purple dresses embroidered with black lace.  Carissa Jones from JL Designs matched the couples style with chocolate brown stained manzanita trees with crystals and white cymbidium orchid blooms attached to the branches and additional strands of crystals swagged from the branches…more crystals fleshing out the top of each vase…all black ceramic vases were accented with a bronze satin ribbon and crystal beaded trim. Cicada looked amazing! Carrie Zack Events put all of Janene’s details in motion. Other highlights include the kickin’ dj sounds of Red Shoe LA and stealth videography by Zack Matthers of Frequent Flyer Productions.

Portrait Madness Continues…

It has been a crazy holiday season and there are so many wonderful families to blog. I am going to skip out on most of stories because there are over 100 images in this post and that alone will take for ever to get through. ;-) We have a ton more coming so stay tuned! Enjoy…

Everyone always asks how I get the kids to look so good in pictures…I bribe them of course. Here’s the milk dud and lollipop fiesta…
novblog_017.jpgThe Eisfelders…(a.k.a. The Cool Chair Couple) My favorite L.A. client just moved into a killer new house. Jeff hates these chairs, especially the last one which Julie bought at a garage sale. But they look soooo good in pictures! So I was so psyched when Jeff (secretly) offered to part with it for an undisclosed sum. I may have overpaid but it was just too cool to pass on. Sorry Julie :-)

O.K. This one deserves a little bit of the story…The Zieles have been building their home for over two years! The weather was pretty bad so we decided to do the shots in “the construction zone.” This is one of my all time favorite portrait sessions.

This one may need a bit of explaining. When I walked into the backyard which was empty when I was there last year.. There were 4 chickens, 1 rooster, a rabbit, 2 dogs, a gerbil, and a cat….Thus dubbed “The Farm.” CJ said he could hypnotize the rooster. I grew up in Miami Beach and know nothing about farm animals but I was pretty sure it was impossible to hypnotize a chicken. Good thing I didn’t bet any money on it…

It’s been like the discovery channel this week! So Christine, Gabe and I walk around the point to the next beach and all of a sudden Gabe yelled out. I almost ran him over before I realized what Gabe was yelling about. There was a seal about a foot from me! I have never seen one this far south, let alone that close. His eyes pulled me in. I was caught in his tractor beam and just kept getting closer and closer….and that’s when he attacked! Don’t be fooled, he has a full set of choppers and despite the fact that he has flippers for feet these things are frickin’ fast!!! I ran like a little school girl and may have even shrieked like one too…Thus the lack of pictures until he was a football field away.

Congratulations Antonella and Brian!!!

Antonella and Brian tied the knot at Rancho Del Cielo high in the hills of Malibu. It is a beautiful location that affords panoramic views of the Pacific. It is very peaceful up there and the guests are always amazed by the views. Fiore Designs did an amazing job on the flowers as usual. Zach @ Frequent Flyer Productions was there to capture it all on video. If you need a great videographer, Zach is the guy to call. The music was amazing. The day started off with one of my favorite bands, Cale. They sound like the Gypsy Kings but funkier. The reception was kickin’ thanks to our favorite DJ’s Red Shoe LA. It was our first time working with Bella Weddings and they did a fantastic job co-ordinating.

This is the first time I have ever seen this and it was so cute. Antonella helped dress Brian in his tux.

Congratulations Tracy & Chris!!!

Tracy and Chris had an intimate affair just outside Carpinteria on the Ventura coastline. The wedding was a close gathering of friends and family and Tracy put together a lot of fun things for everyone to do. They are a very interesting couple. Chris directs movies and Tracy is a photographer. They were so happy to get married to each other and you could just feel how happy everyone around them was as well. There were a lot of speeches, each one more interesting the next. It was a good thing everyone was really warm to each other because this was one of the windiest days I have encountered during a wedding. Everyone took it in stride and all went off as planned.

This is just the beginning…

This is just the start of portrait madness. We have been shooting a ton lately, so the blogging will be a little more spread out since we are so busy!

You know how when you shoot with a wide angle lens things can get distorted? Well, that’s not the case here, Ric is HUGE! 6′6!
436-014.jpg
The Prete’s are doing the coolest thing in their house. They are doing three 20×20 canvas gallery wraps over the fire place with the pics below. They are also doing a 35×45 custom designed canvas as well. It is going to be so cool. I’ll post a pic or two once I shoot the installation. In about 6 weeks I am going to post a ton of client installations so everyone can see what our work looks like hung in client’s homes.

The next two shoots are 6 month sessions for two of our best behaved babies on our baby’s first year plan. For those of you new to us, the baby’s first year plan includes 3 sessions, birth announcments, an 11×14 collage and a custom designed coffee table book hand bound in Japan. Contact Carrie to find out more details.

Wow…

I just wanted to share some recent comments from Angela and Mike’s wedding which we just blogged. This just made my day, so I am shamelessly blogging it! ;-)

Ryan and Carrie,
We could say “thank you” a million times and still wouldn’t be able to convey the depth of our gratitude for the photos you took of our wedding. I remember thinking to myself many times that night, “I wish I could freeze time”…that’s exactly what you’ve done for us with these photos.
With sincere appreciation,
Angela

p.s. I wanted to share some of the well-deserved praise you guys have been getting from our guests who have seen the photos and/or slideshow…

Hi guys,
You had some amazing photographers! Andrea spent the entire night going through our photos pointing out how lame of a job ours did. Ha ha.
That was a great day and they managed to capture the emotion of it. We had so much fun.
Speak soon, Justin

Ryder…..Yes, again.

Welcome to more shameless blogging of my son. This year Ryder was a pirate for Halloween. Everything he does involves pirates, right down to his underwear. This morning he asked me to teach him how to eat cereal with his hook.
001.jpg
Note to self: Don’t give two year old a pirate hook and then stick a $5000 dollar camera in his face.
